- Abstract
- This paper discusses amendments history and analysis methods of ISO15016:2015 (Guidelines for theassessment of speed and power performance by analysis of speed trial data) published in April of 2015. ISO15016, first published in 2002, has been used mainly in Korea and Japan. Recent decision of IMO to use ISO15016 as analysis method to obtain reference speed in EEDI has trigerred revision of ISO15016 to use new technology and guarantee transparency. Under these backgrounds, revision of ISO15016 began since 2013. In 2015 amendments, methods to calculate added resistance due to wind and waves, to estimate speed and power and to correct current are replaced with new methods.
Among these, current correction method has attracted attention from industry as it is related to the number of trial runs. In this paper, the differences in analysis methods between 2002 version and 2015 version of ISO15016 are discussed, and the differences of various options available in ISO15016:2015 are discussed from the perspective of powering performance.s been used mainly in Korea and Japan.
