- Abstract
- This paper presents the design and development of a playback system to replay and analyze the exploration data of an oceanographic survey with a remotely operated vehicle Hemire. Although all the data is logged after exploration, it is complicate and time-consuming for scientists to review and access an entire exploration dataset in an integrated fashion. Because of huge amount of recoded data and videos, we introduce a playback system named Hemire Exploration Playback System (HEPS), which is a web-based application. The HEPS is used for both scientific use and public access. Users can make its own screen by selecting the interesting data, and review the screen according to the time series. Scientists can extract meaningful information from the raw data stored in the database by a statistical processing. We adopted duplicate server architecture, storing policy using relational database, web-based hierarchy structure, and Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) technique to implement these abilities. This system is particularly useful for users out of the surface control system because it provides an indirect experience of the ROV exploration to them. Also the system provides another analysis chance of the ROV exploration to scientists, who may review their exploration or find new events. ?2009 IEEE.
