dc.description.abstract | The ice load characteristics are described through the analysis of measured level ice load distribution on a model ship hull at the KRISO ice model basin. A 1:18.667 scale model of the icebreaking research vessel ARAON was used for model test. To measure the spatial distribution of ice pressures on model ship hull, six tactile sensor panels were installed along the waterline sections of the model ship. Three differentship speedswere selected for the model test simulating ice-ship interaction process under level ice conditions. By analyzing model test data, the correlation between ice resistance force in horizontal direction and the ice load acting on ship hull in normal direction is discussed in this paper. The results show that the resistance force calculated from the measured ice load component is in good agreement with the ice resistance force directly measured from model test. | - |
