dc.description.abstract | A 6,000m class AUV is under development at MOERI. The principal mission of this AUV is exploring inactive thermal vent area. The preliminary design of the AUV was accomplished and a dedicated propeller was newly designed and manufactured. The diameter of the AUV hull is 0.45 meters and the design speed of the AUV is 4 knots. Several years studies make it possible to estimate the thruster performances more precisely before launching AUVs in the water. In this paper the design process of the propeller for the 6,000m class AUV and the estimation process of the maximum speed deduced from the relation of propeller and shaft torque are presented. | - |
