- Abstract
- Recently the interests on a unmanned surface vehicle(USV) are growing up. To operate USV in the ocean, it is more convenient to launch and control from a ship than to launch and control from a shore. However it is difficult to recover a USV from a ship because of no men on board of USV. In this research the heaving line launcher was developed to support the recovery of USV easier. And a mock-up was manufactured to validate for the application of this system to the USV. The mock-up is composed of launcher pipe, remote trigger, air tank, tow shell and heaving line. Tests in land using the mock-up were carried out. The forces by the heaving line launcher to USV were measured by a measuring table during the tests in land. The test results shows that the impact forces during launching are insignificant. The heights of launching trajectories were measured from the video screen by camera. The length and height of launching will be used for the control of heaving line launcher in the future. And brief tests at sea were carried out. From the sea tests the feasibility of heaving line launcher was seen. In this paper the development of a heaving line launcher, tests in land and the measured forces during tests are presented.
