dc.description.abstract | Amount of marine transportation cargo across the Yellow Sea is rapidly increasing. A more efficient and reliable transportation mean, compared to the existing bulk carrier and container ship, has to be found. A rail ship, which can carry the railroad cars inside the ship, has been suggested as a candidate, since it can reduce the loading/unloading time/cost in the port area, and greatly reduce the transportation distance, compared to the land transportation via north Korea, between Korea and China in the Yellow Sea rim area. A high speed rail ship of 40 knots class is proposed. Rail ship technologies adopted in the Baltic Sea area and recently developed technologies for super-high speed vessels can be applied for the development of the ship. Development of reliable and efficient marine transportation system using the high speed rail ship would enhance the economic prosperity of North East Asia area, including Korea and China. | - |
