dc.description.abstract | The emergence of large-scale ships has caused the higher loading on rudders and the erosion induced rudder cavitation has been increased. This paper describes the experimental research for the rudder to control the rudder cavitation. In the case of the cavitation on the lower pintle of horn rudder, the cavitation behavior depends on the rudder gap shape. In this paper, experiments were carried out under the 2-dimensionally simplified part(2-D Rudder) of lower pintle of the horn rudder. The 2-D rudder was experimented with three kinds of models, such as the basic type, the flow control bar type, and the type of the increasing thickness type near the pintle. We examined experimentally the cavitation properties using the cavitation observation test, the pressure measure test, and the photographing the cavitation with high speed camera and showed that controlling the rudder cavitation at the gap is possible. | - |
