- Abstract
- A sea-trial for measurements of a naval ships IR(InfraRed) signature has been performed.
Sea-trial scenarios for Korean sea has been studied and measurements performed by ship-
to-ship technique. We have investigated the effectiveness of both IRSS(InfraRed
Signature Suppression) system and sea water hull-cooling system. Hull-cooling system on
a naval ship shows much effective to reduce both bands(MWIR/LWIR) of IR signature. A
comparative study between measurements and simulations using the software, ShipIR/NTCS
has been performed as well. Simulation results show good agreement against the
measurement data for most test cases. Some issues supposed to obtain higher accurate
results for real sea conditions are presented through the comparative study. both IRSS(InfraRed
