dc.description.abstract | In the present study, numerical simulations were performed to predict the development and propagation of ship waves and to investigate the effect of ship-induced waves on the working area in a port. A RANS-based CFD method was used to solve the hydrodynamic problem including the effect of the free surface. The overset mesh method was adopted to simulate the relative movement of passing ships. To validate the numerical method, the ship waves and total resistance in the open water were simulated and compared with the existing experimental data. Finally, the effect of passing ships on simulation parameters such as passing ship speed, separation distance, and water depth to draft ratio was analyzed. | - |
