dc.description.abstractThis paper introduces CPMC(Computerized Planar Motion Carriage) and 4 DOF captive model test system which were installed on Ocean Engineering Tank of MOERI. CPMC is able to impart an arbitrary horizontal motion to a model ship so that it can be used to carry out captive model tests more generally than PMM or Rotating Arm System. Pilot captive model test results have been made for 9,000 TEU container ship with bare hull model. The results are compared with the PMM test results with same model ship but with propeller and rudder. The comparisons show good agreements for static drift test but show large discrepancy for turning test. The differences between two test results are discussed.-
