Currently “Ubiquitous” is an important topic of the science technology related to the information and communication. It is applicable to safety assessment, ship tracking, shipping industry, port service, engine exhausted gas monitoring and smart cabin in a ship. This study focused on a smart cabin based on ubiquitous ship. An ultimate aim of a smart cabin is all passengers and crews to enjoy a pleasant sea trip. In this paper, we considered the existing related techniques and carried out a feasibility study to the ship. The core technology is how to sense, express and communicate the various and delicate human sense and individual difference without their inconvenience. The sensing techniques of a physical environment of a ship and human response characteristics to a physical environment are also important for a smart cabin. The intelligent and smart cabin can sense body temperature, sweat and so on through just contact with human body or breathing air, communicate with the physical environment of a ship and operate air conditioning system to produce a comfort cabin. The 6 requirements to design effectively a smart cabin are a collection of a basic information of passengers before boarding, a real-time sensing of a sailing data and cabin/passenger information, a remote control, an automatic control, a tracking and emergency monitoring, an identification and safety. Therefore, it needs to develop the wire/wireless sensor network, the middleware and a related context for the success of a smart cabin in ubiquitous ship.-
