dc.description.abstractRecently, as container vessels grow larger and maritime accidents increase due to parametric rolling in bow sea condition, simulation methods to estimate the parametric rolling become to be needed. If the frequency of roll exiting force is the same as the natural frequency of roll and the encounter frequency of wave is near two times as fast as natural frequency of roll, a large roll motion, so-called parametric rolling is generated. In this study, in order to develop the method of model test to estimate the generation condition of parametric rolling and acquire the verification data for simulation method, free-running model tests on the parametric rolling of 9,000 TEU container vessel are carried out. The generation conditions of parametric rolling are investigated according to the change of ship speed, wave steepness and wavelength. The experimental results are compared with those of analytic solution on the generation area of parametric rolling.-
