dc.description.abstract | Brief reviews on the development of shiphandling simulator system and its possible application fields are described. Basic concept and major components of shiphandling simulator system as well as its core technologies are briefly described. Introduction to MOERI shiphandling simulator system is given together with Korea Navy shiphandling training simulator system constructed by MOERI. Various application examples of shiphandling simulator system to maritime safety research field are introduced, which are crew training, maritime traffic safety assessment for harbor and fairway design, analysis of the cause of maritime distress, validation of the performance characteristics of new concept vessel, feasibility study for new navigation equipment, virtual prototyping, and modeling and simulation application for complicate vessel design. It is shown that shiphandling simulator system has a number of application fields. | - |
