dc.description.abstractStatistical analysis of environmental factors such as bottom current, seafloor slope and sediment shear strength at KODOS(Korea Deep Ocean Study) area of CCFZ (Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone) of northeastern equatorial Pacific was accomplished in order to perform robust optimization of the tracked vehicle of deep sea manganese nodules miner. Exponential distribution, log-normal distribution and Weibull distribution which are examples of semi-bounded distribution, [0,∞), were tested to find which one is best fitted for the histogram of each environment factor. Sediment shear strength which was measured by shear vane meter was best fitted for log-normal distribution in all measurement point in depth. Seafloor slope which was measured by multibeam echo sonar, SIMRAD EM-120, was modeled well in Weibull distribution. Bottom current which was measured by the mooring line with current meters during 1 year was modeled well in the exponential distribution. Probability distribution model for environmental factors regarded as design parameters would be used in robust design optimization of the tracked vehicle which will work on seafloor in KODOS.-
