dc.description.abstract | Tug boat is widely used near the harbor in order to assist various works such as berthing and deberthing a very large vessel and towing a barge. When it tows a barge which is connected by towing line in a very harsh environmental condition, the situation could be dangerous due to the combination of various destabilizing forces acting on it. Therefore, it is important to predict a tug boat motion coupled with a towed barge based on the precise modeling and simulation in order to prevent the casualty. For this reason, in this paper, tug boat’s six-degree-of-freedom motion equations were derived by establishing the external force and towing line’s tension models, and many simulations with respect to various environmental parameter’s changes were carried out. As the results, it was confirmed that the established model could be used effectively in the simulation of a tug boat and a towed barge motion in waves. | - |
