dc.description.abstract | The aim of the present research is to investigate the resistance performance of the geom sim models with different scales via a CFD approach. The target ships are KVLCC2 developed by MOERI, and the scale ratios(λ) of the ships are 160,100,58,39.44,and 29. The CFD simulation is performed for the resistance and the flow field characteristics of the geosim models with the range of the low and high velocities, by the similar way to the model test at the towing tank. The results of the numerical simulation are compared with the experimental results and show the scale effect on the resistance performance. The characteristics of the form factors are also calculated, based on the Prohaskas extrapolation and the double body analysis. Compared with the form factor calculation based on the different friction lines (ITTC & ATTC), the form factor exhibits a near linear and increasing dependence on Reynolds number and the slopes of the form factors linearity depend on the different friction lines. | - |
