dc.description.abstractIn general, most of planing vessels have warped(non-prismatic) hull forms. So it is necessary to develop theoretical estimation methods for the prediction of hydrodynamic characteristics of warped planing hulls. New calculation method is proposed for the hydrodynamic forces on planing vessels with arbitrary hull forms in this study. The bottom of a 3D prismatic body is divided into several longitudinal strips, and analytic 2D flat plate pressure formulas are distributed on each longitudinal strip. Additional considerations are given to the transverse pressure distribution. Estimated bottom pressure are similar to the model test results for prismatic bodies in other papers. Proposed method is applied to warped planing hulls, and calculation results also show good agreement with other previous model test results.s proposed for the hydrodynamic forces on planing vessels with arbitrary hull forms in this study.
