dc.description.abstractPerformance of MW grade OTEC plant which is using R32 is verified in various seawater temperature conditions by this paper. Steady state cycle is designed and the output and generation efficiency were about 1MW and 2.7%. Also, dynamic state cycle is designed and simulation results have been compared. At this simulation, the temperature of surface seawater has been lowered from 29℃ to 25℃ for 20 minutes of reaction time. The quality of refrigerant decreased below to 1 atsurface seawater temperature decreased to 28℃. While the quality of refrigerant is above 1, the reduction rate of turbine output is 0.017kW per second. After the seawater temperature reaches 28℃ and the quality of refrigerant falls belowto 1, the reduction rate of turbine output increases to 1.03 kW. However, driving the turbine below the saturation temperature caused the occurrence of surging and the influx of liquid refrigerant. The 1m3 capacity liquid separator which used for simulation becomes filled in 5 minutes after the first liquid refrigerant is generated at the outlet evaporator. Thereafter, liquid inflow to the turbine occurs. Through this study, the operation characteristics of OTEC plant according to seawater temperature were grasped, and the result is expected to be applied to control OTEC plant.-
