- Abstract
- Differential GPS, which is the representative augmentation method for marine navigation, has been widely used for the enhancement of GPS positioning performance due to a little burden on transmitting the correction data and the easiness of correction processing to improve the position accuracy. In the Republic of Korea, maritime DGPS service came into operation in 1999 for safe marine navigation, and then building the infrastructure for nationwide DGPS service will be completed in 2008. From the standpoint of marine navigation, this paper carries out the comparative analysis of augmentation positioning performance based on nationwide DGPS and MSAS which is a sort of satellite based augmentation system provided by Japan. In order to achieve the fair assessment result, this paper proposes an analysis method to solve the problem of the previous research results. And using the proposed analysis method, the latency time and the horizontal position are measured according to the baseline length from nationwide DGPS reference station to user GPS receiver. Finally, this paper shows the comparative analysis results of augmentation positioning performance and discusses the feasibility of MSAS based positioning for marine navigation.
