dc.description.abstract | Ships operating in the Arctic ice-covered waters are exposed to numerous hazards and unexpected problems. Icing problem is especially an important issue when operating Arctic environment as it can cause significant ship stability and represent a safety risk of machineries and emergency equipments. Shipboard winterization requires appropriate standards of maritime safety but guidelines are recommendations rather than mandatory direction. When icing is present on ballast water, it can impose additional loads on the hull and effect on stabilization of ship. Anti-icing techniques of ballast water, therefore, are key criteria for ship safety. The state of art anti-icing techniques of ballast tank are hull heating and water circulation, air bubble, etc. In this research, anti-icing technique of ballast water for sea water circulation system and micro bubble system is reviewed. | - |
