- Abstract
- Kiribati is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean that uses solar power as a major source of renewable energy. A new energy source such as Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) can also be used on this island. This article proposes the implementation of 1 MW OTEC into the Kiribati system. The system operation without OTEC was analyzed and the method with OTEC to the system was performed. To check the integrated OTEC response to an event in the system, a short circuit was analyzed at different points. ? 2023 The Korean Institute of Power Electronics.
