This experiment was conducted in the ocean engineering basin (OEB) of the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean engineering (KRISO) to investigate the characteristics of wave impact pressure on the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) of bow. The experiment was conducted in 10-, 50-, 100-, and 1,000-year return period wave conditions. The wave impact pressure was measured on 12 force sensors installed on the FPSO bow, and the moment when the large wave impact pressure occurred was photographed with a high-speed camera. The characteristics of the wave impact pressure were investigated from the measured wave impact pressure and the snapshot. First, at the moment when the largest wave impact pressure occurred, the time series of impact pressure, snapshots taken with the high-speed camera, and the attitude of the FPSO were analyzed. Second, the temporal characteristics of the wave impact pressure, such as rise time and decay time, were investigated. Third, the spatial distribution of the wave impact pressure was investigated according to the wave conditions. Fourth, the magnitude of the wave impact pressure according to the wave conditions was examined. Finally, the effect of the current on the wave impact pressure was analyzed. ? 2022 Elsevier Ltd-
