Abstract
In this paper, the flow around v-shaped plates placed in a uniform horizontal current is simulated by using a finite volume method and compared with the flow field visualized by a dye injection method. The flow properties are investigated particularly in viewpoints of the rising height of vortex head and the strength of the vertical convection, which varies with the configuration of the plate. The flow patterns are examined by varying the dihedral angle (θ) and the inclination angle (φ) and the optimum configuration which induces the strongest vertical convection flow is determined.
