Abstract
The mean power as well as the motions and time-mean horizontal drift force of a floating BBDB (backward-bent duct buoy) wave energy absorber in regular waves are calculated within the scope of the linear wave theory. The radiation-diffraction potential problem associated with the OWC (oscillating water column) is solved taking account of the oscillating surface-pressure due to the pressure drop in the air chamber. The horizontal drift force of the present BBDB has been shown to be in the reverse direction of propagation of the incident waves over specific frequency range.
