Abstract
When performing fire risk assessment at design stage, it is often very difficult to use experimental data and most fire risk assessment rely on fire simulation to evaluate the results of fire scenarios. In this paper, fire risk analysis of a large passenger ship is performed. Event tree is used to model fire scenarios considering the effect of automatic fire detection and suppression. Fire simulation software and evacuation analysis is used to calculate the consequence of fire considering the effect of ventilation conditions such as doors, windows and mechanical ventilations. Furthermore, sensitivity analysis on the heat release rate value is performed for the design fire scenarios that do not have reliable heat release rate data to use in fire simulation. ? 2010 COPPE/UFRJ.
