Carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) technology is regarded as one of the most promising emission reduction options for the mitigation of climate change. Though lots of studies carried out on CO 2 pipeline transport, the majority of them were mainly focused on the steady state processes. On the other hand, many transient conditions such as shut-in, blow-down, etc can be encountered during the CO 2 transport operation. In this study, experimental apparatus was built to simulate the transient behavior of CO 2 pipe transportation under various compositions and temperature. The apparatus consists of pressurizing part, liquefying part, mixing zone, and test section, and in the test section, pressure drop and heat transfer rate can be measured under various CO 2 mixture composition and temperature. With this apparatus, depressurization behavior on CO 2 mixture transportation was experimentally evaluated. And also, shut-in and blow-down of CO 2 pipeline transport system was numerically simulated. ? 2012 IEEE.-
