dc.description.abstractThis paper presents an experimental and numerical study on towing characteristics of a transportation barge during multi-tug operation. Model tests were carried out at Ocean Engineering Basin of KRISO. The motion of a towed transportation barge during multi-tug operation was measured. Numerical simulations based on the maneuvering model were conducted with hydrodynamic derivatives extracted from the model test. Measured towing trajectories were compared with numerical simulations. Discussions were made on the effect of tug operation on towing characteristics of a barge. Copyright ? 2014 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).-
