- Abstract
- This paper covers the numerical investigation of slamming problem with 2-D wedge and ship section. Both of them are assumed as a rigid body and dropped into calm water with free falling. Because of the nonlinear behavior of water-entry wedge associated with violent freesurface motion including jet-like splash and water fragment, there are some difficulties in prediction numerically with conventional gridbased approach. In this study, a modified MPS (Moving Particle Semi-Implicit) method which is a particle-based approach and solves the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible and viscous fluid has been used for representing time-varying entry velocity of rigid body, local pressure and vertical force on the body and the pressure distribution on the wet surface. The validation of the present simulation results are performed through the comparison with the experiments conducted in KRISO, Korea. ?
