In the present study, assessment of ship operating performance is carried out based on the full scale measured data from modern LNG carrier in a seaway. Operating performance can be evaluated with respect to fuel oil consumption in specific voyage route. Full scale measured power is compared with a computed power from numerical analysis. Power prediction is performed by considering total ship resistance due to environmental loads such as the wind, wave, and current, so that wave basin model test, numerical computation, and empirical formulation are conducted to compute the total ship resistance in this study. According to the comparative analysis results, the power prediction by numerical computation shows a good agreement with full scale measured data. It is also found that there is a discrepancy in terms of consistency between two data sets so that additional factors such as aging effect, hull, and propeller roughness should be taken account for a practical purpose.
