In order to verify thermal-structural analysis of ships and offshore structures, comparison with experimental results is required. Most fire experiments have been focused on air and solid temperature measurements, while structural fire experiments have been performed in limited environments such as in furnaces or using specially designed instrumentation since it is difficult to measure the displacement in a high-temperature environment in which flame and smoke are mixed. In this study, a natural fire experiment was performed to verify the thermal-structural analysis for the steel plate which is the simplest structural member used in ships and offshore structures. Air temperatures, steel surface temperatures, and displacements of steel plate were measured and compared with the results of thermal-structural analysis. The displacement measurements were performed using wire gauge with ceramic extended line in the time domain, so that the path of the thermal and mechanical loads can be seen together. ? 2019 Taylor & Francis Group, London.-
