Abstract
This paper performs the study on estimation of wave-induced responses of highly numerous floating bodies with connectors numerically. The structure consisting of multiple floating bodies is developed for the sunlight generation system. For large capacity generation system, the structure is large and highly numerous floating bodies are required. To compute the wave force of these many bodies, too much computing time is needed and maybe a super-computing system should be requested. Thus, in this work, the method to compute the wave force for numerous floating bodies is studied. In the square arrangement of floating bodies, one floating body is analyzed. Wave loads on floating bodies of the structure are supposed to be applied equally with the results of one body, but phases for body position and wave direction are considered. Added mass and radiation damping are also estimated in the same way. Fully computed results on wave force and simply estimated ones are compared. And, by using these results, stresses on connectors that link the floating bodies are assessed and compared to check the effect of wave forces that are estimated by two methods. ? 2020 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).
