Abstract
In this study, the estimation of the asymmetric factor for a semisubmersible platform based on linear analysis is conducted. The asymmetric factor is defined as the ratio of nonlinear wave elevation to linear wave elevation. Estimation is performed according to the simplified method presented from DNVGL, and the factor is calculated using the frequency-domain linear analysis and the model test data. Upwell is measured for 23 points for a total of 16 seeds in two different sea states, and the value of asymmetric factors are discussed. It is also investigated that the asymmetric factor depending on the number of resampled realizations from 16 seeds. ? 2020 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).
