dc.description.abstractBuilding a naval vessel is inherently complex process and many kinds of activities are involved. To reduce trial and error, ship design process usually obeys the sequential process of the design spiral. However, naval vessel of the time has become a bigger and complex one and conventional process is not sufficient to meet the requirement of the large and high tech naval vessel acquisition project. In addition, in a view point of product life cycle management, as each design and building process separated into each task manager of different view, so it is hard to compromise various contentions and ideas. Sometimes the first concept and philosophy of the ship diluted as the project going on. For that reason, systems engineering approach is needed to make systematic processes of the work. By study new naval vessel concept design methodology for PLM by using systems engineering approach, early phase decision making is possible and it can enhance the productivity through whole life cycle.-
