dc.description.abstractThe decreasing trend of ice coverage in arctic sea has been commonly accepted. Besides, it has been researched out that the oil and gas reserves located in the Arctic area research to 22% of the world's reserves. These circumstances attract large interest on the development of arctic technologies including station-keeping of arctic offshore structures. In the design of station-keeping methodology for offshore structure in the Arctic sea, the global ice load acting on the structure plays basic and important role. In order to consider the global ice load in the design of station-keeping methodology, KRISO has recently developed experimental techniques. A performance evaluation experiment for dynamic positioning(DP) system in pack ice condition has been developed and the first trial of DP experiment was conducted in KRISO’s ice tank. In this article an introduction on the new arctic DP experimental setup and the first trial with the experimental setup is given.-
