Abstract
In this study, the cycle simulation for improving the efficiency of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) was conducted. The cycles used in the study are basic ORC cycle, EPX (Ejector-Pump and heat exchanger) cycle, and DEPX (Dual Ejector-Pump and heat exchanger) cycle. The ejector forms a low pressure in the suction part when a high-pressure fluid flows in the motive part, and the fluid is drawn by the formed low pressure and mixed and discharged in the ejector. When the ejector is applied to the ORC power generation cycle, it is possible to decrease the turbine discharge pressure, thereby increasing the efficiency. A cycle outline, performance characteristics and cycle performance of 200 kW were compared using a heat source of 75℃ and a 5℃ heat sink. The EPX and DEPX cycles using the ejector showed different efficiencies of the cycle depending on the flow rate and the pressure recovery rate. The efficiency of the EPX cycle and the DEPX cycle were 10.06% and 11.07%, respectively, when the basic cycle exhibited an efficiency of 9.58%.
