Abstract
The technology about the prediction of ship’s maneuverability in waves are interested as IMO and ITTC has bigger interests in that technology. And the technology is an important role of IMO’s activity about the minimum propulsion power of a ship in the adverse weather condition. The most reliable method for the prediction of ship’s maneuverability in waves is free running model test in waves. But this method is very difficult, expensive and time consuming. Therefore the simulation technology for the prediction and the model tests for the verification of simulation are studied much. To simulate the maneuvering motion in waves the integration of maneuvering and seakeeping motion in the time domain is necessary. The simulation methods can be classified by two models. One is the Two Time Scale model, and the other is Hybrid Approach model. The movements and description of two models are included in this paper. And available Two Time Scale model and Hybrid Approach model are also proposed in this paper.
