- Abstract
- In this study, the environmental load and the gravity load acting on a fixed offshore platform designed by rule scantling method are estimated and structural strength evaluation is performed to evaluate the safety of the structure and to investigate the effect of material and structural shape. In order to establish structural design technology of a fixed offshore jacket structure, the overall load calculation method proposed by the relevant design regulations and the overallshape of the jacket and the method of member arrangement are analyzed. Based on the size of the jacket structure and the water depth data, the specification of penetration pile is determined. Furthermore, the inner diameter of the jacket leg is decided by the installation method. The specific dimensions of leg and members of the jacket are designed to meet material strength standards such as slenderness, buckling, and hydrostatic pressure collapse. To assess the strength of the designed jacket structure, the allowable stress ratio is evaluated by performing beam element based full structure analysis. The jacket structure design and strength evaluation techniques discussed in this paper will be used as a cornerstone for safe and efficient structure design.
