dc.description.abstractUnderwater acoustic remote sensing technology provides effective means for monitoring the ocean where the light penetration is severely limited. Therefore many scientific explorations of the ocean over long-ranges take advantage of sound transmission in sea water and processing of it for information extraction. In this review, the recent applications of the underwater acoustic remote sensing technology for monitoring the ocean are presented and their key technologies are analyzed. They include the observation of marine ecosystem, ocean physical property, Arctic exploration, and the methane leakage from the sea floor. The key technologies of source localization, target detection/estimation, and environment inversion are analyzed and their recent advances are presented.-
