dc.description.abstractTime domain analysis of offshore structure in irregular waves needs generally three hour simulation to get statistically acceptable extreme responses. However, the full simulation needs much computation time. In many offshore engineering fields, reduced time simulation with combined design wave is applied to get computing efficiency. This study investigates the applicability of the combined design wave methods by analyzing a floating structure with mooring lines in irregular wave. BEM-FEM coupled method is used in calculating extreme body motions and mooring line tensions. Two cases such as linear magnifying function and periodic magnifying function are considered as the design wave combination function in reduced 10min simulation and the results are compared with those of full time 3hr simulation. fields, reduced time simulation with combined design wave is applied to get computing efficiency.
