Abstract
In this study model test on multi-point mooring system of FPSO(floating production, storage and off-loading unit) for deep sea development in West Africa is performed. The vessel designed is FPSO moored by multi-point mooring system consisting of 12 catenary mooring lines. Target installation site is Aporo in West Africa that has 1200 m depth approximately. Model test for performance assessment of multi-point mooring system of FPSO is conducted at 3-D offshore basin in KRISO(Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering). Model scale of FPSO is 1/70, and pre-tension and offset-restoring force curve of mooring line for original and model depths are satisfied with the similarity law by using a truncated-mooring method. Wave test is performed for regular and irregular conditions, and in case of irregular condition collinear condition that has same direction for wave, wind and current and non-collinear one that has different directions for each environment load are conducted. Motion characteristic of FPSO and tensions loaded on mooring lines in waves are considered, and non-linearity effect in complex environment is contemplated as comparing the responses in wind only, current only, wave only and complex environment conditions. In addition, the results of collinear and non-collinear conditions are compared.
