dc.description.abstractThis paper describes the concept design and powering performance of a 2,500 displacement ton class trimaran which is composed of a slender main hull and two side hulls. The Cruising and maximum speeds of the trimaran ara 18 knots and 30 knots, respectively. A series of resistance tests and numerical calculations have been conducted to investigate the resistance characteristics. The resistance characteristics of the trimaran according to the shapes and longitudinal positions of the side hulls are shown, and the powering performance of the trimaran is compared with that of similar mono-hull ships. The results show that the admiralty coefficient of the former is much higher than that of the latter in most speed range and the propulsion efficiency is slightly better than that of mono-hull ships.nots, respectively.
