dc.description.abstractAn experimental method for estimating reliable motion response transfer function is presented in this paper. A model test for studying motion characteristics of LNG FSRU Test Design was conducted in ocean engineering basin of MOERI/KORDI. One of the well known ways to find out the motion response transfer function is based upon regular wave response. This method could provide point-wise transfer function results in the frequency domain. In this paper we report regular wave test and white noise wave test. The white noise wave means that a irregular wave train has the same energy level in a specific frequency band. A continuous transfer function is produced as results of white noise wave test. A comparison between motion response transfer functions produced by regular wave test and those by white noise wave test is presented. Also a numerical results based on the linear potential theory are shown together. Conclusively it is obviously proved that the use of white noise wave test can lead to more complete understanding of motion characteristics of floating body when combined with the conventional regular wave test.-
