dc.description.abstractSpecifying the amount of coastal debris by a disaster such as typhoons and floods is one of the key indicators for promptly performing cleanup activities. In this study, satellite images of Dadaepo Beach taken immediately after the typhoon (i.e., Maysak) passed were used, and the amount of coastal debris was quantified through supervised classification and image processing. Coastal debris generated by typhoons was classified into beach debris and floating debris. Also, their amount was sub-divided into 6 and 3 levels with the intensity of wavelength, respectively. The image processing method estimated the amount of beach debris with an error of ~9.1% compared to the collection data estimated by the Saha-gu officer. The method could provide crucial information for the management and coastal pollution assessment by disaster.-
