dc.description.abstractThe design of marine structure has been wswally undertaken employing well-developed standard, codes and classification rules etc. The classification rules, which represent good practice, play an important role in that. In the design of V.L.F.S(Very large Floating Structure), there are several novel aspects such as huge size and poculiar configuration. Hence, a lot of uncertaintied exist compared to ship and offshore structure would be quite different issues from the general marine structures. In order to supply a practical guideling to the designers and operators of the V.L.F.S., to develop classification rules applicable to it is purpose of the research, As first year's research result, th paper has presented a outline of the classification rules for the V.L.F.S-
