dc.description.abstract | Satellite remote sensing is a useful method in monitoring disasters and can be applied on various fields to mitigate those size and damage. This works investigate the possibility in the application of satellite remote sensing to marine safety which is involved mainly in safe maritime navigation. This paper also outlines how detecting ships and monitoring ocean features and atmospheric mesoscale phenomena have effect on the safety improvement in ship traffic. Ships extracted from satellite data can be combined with the marine casualties recorded up to now to draw a marine accidents risk map. Merging of satellite remote sensing and environmental stress model is tested lastly. The results indicate that satellite remote sensing can play an important role to reduce navigational risks. | - |
