dc.description.abstractTo cope with IMO ship maneuvering standards approved at MSC 76, the stopping performance of large container ship has been studied. Free running tests have been done with 1/72 scaled model ship for 9000TEU container ship at the outdoor lake. With test results, the effects of loading condition and \\'allowable maximum rpm for astern command(stopping rpm)\\' are investigated. The test results show that the \\'stopping rpm\\' affects the stopping distance greatly. To predict stopping distance accurately, it is important to evaluate the effects of stopping rpm correctly.-
