dc.description.abstract | It is difficult to apply the self propulsion method for model ship with a conventional propeller to a waterjet model ship because the waterjet propulsion system is embedded inside the hull. The 21th ITTC has tried to establish a suitable standard test procedures and proposed the momentum flux method to predict power performances of a ship with waterjet systems. In the momentum flux method, the thrust and power are predicted from the difference of momentum flux and energy between intake and jet. Model test procedures and results are shown for a ship with twin waterjet system, and the full scale prediction method is explained. At the model tests, the volume flow rate and the flow distributions in the intake and the jet section are measured. | - |
