dc.description.abstract | This paper proposes and evaluates a new approach for detecting ships as targets by using Radarsat-1 SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imagery of the vicinity of the Korean peninsula. To be more specific, a labeling technique and morphological filtering in conjunction with some other methods are employed to automatically detect the ships. From the test, we found that the ships were successfully detected. For ground truth data, information from a radar system which allows assessing accuracy of the approach, was used. From the results, we could conclude that the proposed approach is fairly effective in automatically detecting the ships | - |
