dc.description.abstract | An experimental and computational study has been made to analyze the flows around a large container ship with twin-skegs in oblique and turning motion. A Finite Volume Method is applied to compute the turbulent flows with RANS equations. Multi-block method is employed to represent the complicated stern hull form with twin-skegs. Turbulent flows are simulated by Spalart-Allmaras one-equation model. Model tests have been also done to measure flows and hydrodynamic forces in drift and turning motion at the towing tank of KRISO. Flow fields around a hull are measured using 5-hole Pitot tubes. HPMM tests have been done to measure side forces and yaw moments acting on the hull during maneuvering motion. Computational results are compared with measured data. The characteristics of stern flows for a twin-skeg container ship are discussed wit experimental and computational data. | - |
