dc.description.abstract | To predict manouevrability of large containership, prediction method using CFD was used and compared with model test results. Visman developed by KRISO is a RANSE solver using finite volume method to predict manoeuvrability, and commercial CFD package FLUENT is well known for easy handling settings. We used WAVIS to make a structured mesh and developed a program that transfers mesh to neutral file that can be exported to commercial CFD package. Drift tests and rotating arm tests on the horizontal plane were simulated to calculate hydrodynamic derivatives by both solvers. To simulate manoeuvring motion with hydrodynamic coefficients calculated by CFD, more research will be needed. | - |
